Hi Milford, no big secret method to being in the beta, I just asked. I follow @JosephCarrabis on Twitter and saw him mentioning beta testing and for some reason he said it was okay for me to come onboard!

lol, Adam - make sure to ask to beta the next Wonderment!

Just a tad (read as: enormously) jealous you got to beta!

I read about NSSA some days ago in another blog and the main things that you mention here are important. How did you get to be a beta?

Howdy,
one possibility is that the Retribution filter is turned up too high (an Occam's Razor solution). I'd want to see lots of material going through before I came to that conclusion, though.
Another possibility (one more likely in general, me thinks) is that "Retribution" can also be a variant of "wanting to view from a distance" or "wanting to keep things at a distance". I would need to see the whole report to determine if these were the more likely causes for a high Retribution value.
<img src="http://triquatrotritecale.hungrypeasant.com/images/Romeo and self, self, self.jpg" alt="" align="right" />Troll...yes...the first audience any author must please is themself.
Hope this helps - Joseph

lol, okay - fair enough! Continuing on the vein of documentation, I read the new descriptive material that was added to NSSA this morning, and it is helpful, but I still don't understand why I score so high on Retribution, and it bugs me GREATLY. I verified the dictionary definition before I read yours and I was hopeful that there was perhaps a broader meaning (like that I was seeking some reward - in this case, feedback and pats on the head from readers and you), but I can't imagine who or what or whom or whatever I'd be seeking to "punish" or get back at! And if it is that deeply subconscious, I am troubled that an author has the potential to be judged by it. Can you help me understand this better?

I've also decided I am no longer troubled by my high Troll score. I suspect everything I write would score high on Troll - I wouldn't do things like this if they didn't entertain me-me-me-me. I'm egotistical like that. I wish I still had some of my old requirement elicitation writing ... I bet even they would score high for Troll!

Howdy and our thanks for your kudos, Jen.
One correction I would offer is to your "However, I grasp what my scientific value to the beta effort is: analyst."
You were invited to take part because we trusted you to document your experience truthfully even if your experience showed us unfavorably. It's always rewarding when people think well of you, it's better when people speak their truth of you. Finding people who will speak truth regardless of outcome is a guiding principle in NextStage's selection of people to help us conduct our research, contribute to whitepapers, perform tests and take part in betas.

And we're so relieved you liked it (my inherent lack of confidence coming through again).
Thanks,
Joseph
